Bonjour!

Before I get to the Paris stuff here is some pictures of George's super cute bunnies in Bristol; Florence & Brian.

I'm writing this while lying on the grass in front of the Tour Eiffel (for all you uncultured people thqts the Eiffel Tower in french)
As I looked for the perfect spot to park myself I hqd to toss up what was worse; a man calling me lady gaga while trying to sell me eiffel tower figurines, a fat french girl (i know, shock me) straddling her boyfriend and showing the world her g-string or a big asian tour group.

Before I got to this point I did some other stuff which I will now get too; I arrived in Paris on Tuesday night (3 hours later then planned) still recovering from the epicness that was Glastonbury so Dianou & I just went for a quiet drink.

I ventured out to the Marais (the Jewish part of Paris) on Wednesday to look at some vintage shops and also sample the world famous falafels. ^side note, I just noticed the guy sitting next to me trying to catch his pet bird and kiss it^
I read about L'AS DU FALAFFEL on lots of blogs so I decided to try this one over all the other places claiming they had the best falafel in the world.

The Verdict:
First off, I have never seen someone stuff pita bread so fast, genuine pros. There was a good amount of all ingredients, even some fried eggplant which was an interesting addition. The falafels were super tasty, and they did use lots of sauce but problem was the sauce had too much tahini and lacked the necessary acidic hit from the yoghurt to balance out the flavours. Good falafel, but not the best. 7/10

After a long stroll through the streets of Paris I went to meet up wth Diane after work so we could go to her friends apartment. This apartment was ridic, gold embelishments on white walls with a big mountain dog just chillin' on the balcony like it's nobodys business. We then went off to this really cool venue in the middle of nowhere to see Nicolas Jaar. I'm not the biggest minimal/electro fan, so I may have fallen asleep during main event. My bad!

I woke up this morning and went to meet Diane on her lunch break. She works on the street where the president and his nakey model wife live so it was no suprise that walking into a typical lunch bar it was full of men in suits drinking expensive wine and eating steak tartare (which I must try). This was not bad, because rich old men are genorous and sent some nice white wine over to Diane & I to enjoy with our cheese & eggs.

Then I got to the point that I am now, sitting in the sunshine looking at the Eiffel Tower. I wrote this down on paper and now I'm back at Dianes getting ready to go meet her for after work drinks. As I left the park I got the Lady Gaga man again telling me how much he loves me and just wants a minute with his love. European men are so charming!

For the next 4 days i'm going to become a smoker in order to get the full parisian experience, as well as sampling all the foods on my list such as; cheese, raclette, fondue, soufflé and more cheese.
Until next time,
Gros Bisous x

Glastonbury

On Wednesday the 22nd of June we headed off to the most beautiful place in the world, Glastonbury. It was all smooth sailing until I find out my ticket was at the other gate, which was an hour and 45 minute walk. Being the dirty gypsy that I am, i picked up my muddy bag and hitched a ride with a very lovely lady.

From the minute I got on the grounds I realised it was going to be typical Glasto weather, muddy as hell. Lucky for me I didn't listen to my mother and took my wellies half way across the world, and they did not leave my feet for 5 days. The guy camping behind me referred to them as "cancer on your feet".

I went and had a chat to the volunteer guy on Thursday because there was some money dramas, where he told me that because they fucked up and I got detained I didn't actually have to work and still got my money back, winner! That began the awesomely muddy free ride that was Glastonbury 2011.

On Thursday there are no bands so we took a nice little walk around, explored a bit. We went down to The Common where I saw the highlight of the weekend, The Hell Riders.
I didn't take this photo, because my little film camera was too slow to capture the craziness. Pretty much 5 people on motorbikes and go karts speeding around a circular wall completely on their sides. They came up so hight tha their faces were right near hours, I could not stop screaming and it was amazing!

On Friday we took a walk to the Greenfield and had a look around, I was about to go to Wu-Tang Clan but decided to stick around and make a pizza with the hippies. I watched a bit of BB King on my way back to the tent, he was pretty rad. I then went to see Bright Eyes, who was good but a bit of a wanker. I had to check out if the rumours that Radiohead were the special guests at the Park Stage were true, and they were, but the sound was terrible and they sung all these songs nobody knew so I left, pretty shit. I wanted to get as far away as possible from U2 so we went to see chase and status, they were friggin' amazing! Defs up there with my top 3 acts.

Saturday I watched a bit of Tame Impala, but the big build up was for Paolo Nutini, Janelle Monae and James Blake. I only saw 2 Janelle Monae songs because she came on late and clashed with James Blake (worst ever) but she was awesome. I also sae Aloe Blacc before her, and he was so cool, he split the crowd down the middle and everyone danced down the isle how they do in gang* movies. I then ran to James Blake who lucky for me came on late due to Pulps suprise set which ran overtime (they also shut off the park stage because it was so packed for them). James Blake is the second person in my top 3, holy shiz he was incredible! As the sun set he finished his with Wilhelms Scream. everyone started setting of flares and it was just this big smoky red haze of heavy calypso dub beats and soulful vocals. Absoloute legend! After that I was so happy that we just hung out in the dance village and cranked, and i also complimented Mike Posner on his fur jacket (i'm defs cooler than him, just sayin').

After 4 days of trekking in clay like mud, people losing their wellies left right and centre (I thankfully lasted the weekend fall free) I woke up early to beaming sunshine. I walked over to the West Holts stage and sat at the bar in the shade, hoping to stay heat stroke free and in top form for ma home gurrrl Beyonce. Things did not quite go to plan, when a bunch of dudes came and sat with me and before 11am I had already had sambuka shots ughhh. I am grateful they did come along though because otherwise I wouldn't have stuck around and heard Jamie Woon, who you should all check out because the dude is a freakin' legend, his cover of Would I Lie to You almost made my day.

I then went and sat in the circus tent for more of a chill out, but instead i was looking through my fingers as I watched some guy juggle a real live chainsaw and swallow swords. I then sat through Pendulum, who were actually ok, waiting for the moment of truth. I had been waiting all weekend for this moment, 1opm hit (15 minutes late) and through a giant triangle Beyonce rose to the stage. She opened the set with Crazy in Love, and from then on I was mesmerised. That woman, is so ridiculously sexy and incredible and Jay Z is the luckiest man on earth. Clearly she completes my top 3 of the weekend, highlights included a Destinys Child medley where she sung Bug-a-Boo and Vedran and I swaying from side to side during Halo on the phone to Bessy.

We then went off and partied the night away in Shangri-La, the most trippy place in the festival. Ending the night (or starting the day I guess) at the Stone Circle watching the sun rise on the phone to Will Hicks.

It was such a good weekend, the people, the music, just everything. I was going to say I will have a post of all the photos up when I get them developed, but turns out I broke the camera so no such luck. Sorry Guys.

Off to Paris in a few hours so I should probably finish packing and get a move on, until next time x

I'm Back!

Oh hai friends, I'm back overseas and this time I did not forget my camera cord so I can get back on here and tell you all about my travels (although I don't have many photos, they are yet to be developed)

So I'm sure most of you saw my rants on facebook about customs being abosloute cunts (sorry mum) and detaining me, then telling me i can't go to Glastonbury. I showed them though, I got in and I'm going to shake my booty with ma gurl Beyonce in 5 days eep!

After those few hours stuck at the airport starving and dehydrated I finally made it to the lovely people's house where I was staying.

I spent a few nights in London with them, where I got over my slight jet lag and the night before I was due to come to Bristol decided to make the most of free drinks at some super hipster exhibition, which some of you would be very proud of me because I was not my usual free drinks self (no tears, and I came out with complete memory of the night WIN)

Sam & Laura

I then made it to Bristol where we celebrated George's birthday, and had a walk around my favourite place in the UK; ASDA (it's an amazing supermarket for those who don't know)

From there I returned to London where I met up with ma homegirl Laura, and we had a traditional sunday roast, tried my first yorkshire pudding and all. We then went to a Diafrix gig with my friend Steph 2 (Laura named me twilight (apparantly i have crazy vampire eyes) so we would know which stef she was talking too) and then we went bar hopping. This night also led to me almost getting defeated by food, but i persevered and after 2 hours got through it (photo to come)

I would sit here and tell you about all the hilarious things that happened (like Laura and Sam taking out the sound system while attempting to swing dance, or Laura and I completely embarrasing ourselves in front of two really attractive young men because we thought we were ashlee simpson) but i'd be here for ever.

Tomorrow we are off to Glastonbury, so it will be 5 days of mud, no showers and incredible music.

Until then, stay safe peeps x
